HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY, BABY

We blew out the candles on our Boston Cream Pie, and now we're ready for twenty plus more years! Accompanying this stunning full window sign, we have a "Black Ink Boston Retrospective". One of our favorite things to create in both stores is signs for the products. Puns, alliterations, pop culture references; they all make the experience more engaging and whimsical.

To everyone who shops at our Charles Street store and our Harvard Square location: Thank you! We look forward to providing all of your kewpies, cookbooks, rubberbands, display clips, toy cars, knit finger puppets and beyond for many years to come.

HOPPING INTO SPRING

Rabbits are roaming around the stores! Even though it's Sprinter (Winter and Spring combined) we're ready for full on warm weather, green grass, and sunshine. The above photo shows a colony of Manny & Simon wooden push toys that are a huge customer favorite. We have a few other styles in the stores, but the rabbits are irresistibly cute this time of year. Below we have a decoritive ceramic rabbit that has the ability to sit on a ledge, perhaps looking at the new Boston store window.

This time of year it seems that the small things have a chance to really shine. Finding that little something for an Easter basket, Mothers Day, or just a "Hey it's Spring" gift. In both of the store windows there are many cute and functional items to get you a crafting, cleaning, or cuddly mood!

Summertime in Boston

It's white hot here in Boston (and Cambridge) and we're laying low and staying cool. Check out some of these beautiful white ceramic pieces for summer entertaining, little bites, and light meals. A great time to stay in the shade and read a great book ("How Music Works" by David Byrne anyone?) and when you feel the need to get out come by and visit us, Harvard Square and Beacon Hill are great neighborhoods to take an early evening stroll and enjoy the steamy atmosphere.

It's a wrap!

We have been showcasing Cavallini Paper's beautiful wraps in our windows at the stores, they've long been a customer favorite and there are some beautiful new images to see. Use them to wrap special gifts with, of course, but many go home to be hung on walls. Choose from European Maps, Les Bicyclettes, Penmanship Chart, La Perfumerie and more. We have packed up a Museum of Useful Things handy hanging solution so that you can get that instant gratification of getting these papers right up on your wall, and interchange them easily too.

If you're choosing to wrap a gift, check out our new Grosgrain Ribbons in some beautiful saturated colors (Boston store only) the perfect accompaniment.

Boston is Strong

Moving forward from that day, our community has shown resilience and a willingness to pull together and stand by those most affected. A beautiful card set by hometown letterpress printers at Smudge Ink (who are donating proceeds from the cards to the One Fund) inspired us to pull a window together to celebrate and remember. On a beautiful and sunny Thursday (Harvard graduation day!) we held a little fundraiser for Mery Daniel, a young women injured in the blasts, sending off a small contribution to her recovery fund. Follow her progress, read her story and consider sending your best wishes to her at:  MeryDaniel.com
