World Changing Events...

As we watch the situation in Japan with great concern and sadness, I think about all our wonderful Japanese vendors, suppliers and designers and hope they are faring well. This Ibushikawara good luck charm (above) arrived last week. It is crafted from traditional roof tile material, called Koyo Ibushi. This natural clay material has a subdued silver brilliance after firing and is strong and hard enough to weather a storm. Its beautiful resilience is a fitting metaphor.

TinTin Comes to Town

New TinTin tee shirts have arrived! We have a limited amount of shirts and sizes, so shop early. How about a beer with that shirt? New Biere glasses - only $8.00 - perfect for a cold Belgian beer with a friend.

Other delicious offerings this week include crocheted donut baby rattles, Select Travel Guides and bright orange oil lamps. Yum!

Knock on Wood

Luckily, the snow is finally melting and we are feeling the warmth of the sun again. New Springtime products are flowing in, inspiring us to spend some time outdoors; perhaps a picnic with some of our beautiful Bambu bamboo plates, or packing an Easter basket with Original Silly Putty and organic cotton finger puppets hand crafted in Peru...

Speaking of luck, wish your upcoming graduate the best with our Good Luck Clover garden in a bag. And don't forget a witty greeting card to go with it!

Hello From Black Ink!

Hello!  We're glad you've found us here.  Check in frequently to see what's new and happening in the stores.

The holidays are over, hallelujah! Snow is melting, there's a hint of Spring in the air, and we're bringing in new books and products daily. Last week was a very busy week for our UPS and FedEx delivery guys (thanks Phil!) as soon as we unpacked one group of boxes, more would materialize. New stuff included pastel plastic Deidei dolls from West Africa, two cute new amigurumi books, solid glass globe orbs, new zipper bags in fresh colors, Smiling Cups from Japan, and washable fabric lunchbags. All the fresh colors inspired me to paint the front window stage in the Harvard Square store glossy black, which really makes the colors jump.
